The Iowa Unity Coalition is pleased to announce our endorsement of Dr. Skylar Mayberry-Mayes for Des Moines School Board District 4 in the upcoming school board election to be held on November 4, 2025.. The Iowa Unity Coalition is dedicated to building political power within our diverse and underrepresented communities at every level of government.

Dr. Skylar Mayberry-Mayes currently serves on the Des Moines Public Schools Board representing District 4. Skylar serves as an adjunct instructor for UNI and as Executive Director of The Jacobson Institute at Grand View University. His previous experience in the community includes serving on boards for organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters, Oakridge Neighborhood, Des Moines Public Schools, UNI@DMACC advocacy council, and the Iowa Department of Human Services, among others. 

The Iowa Unity Coalition believes Dr. Mayberry-Mayes is the best person to represent District 4 on the Des Moines School Board. He is committed to continuous improvement for the district. Skylar will continue investing in resources for both students and teachers, enhancing classroom experiences, and ensuring that our schools are safe and inclusive for all.
