The Iowa Unity Coalition is pleased to announce our endorsement of Mike Simonson for Des Moines City Council At Large in the upcoming municipal election to be held on November 4, 2025. The Iowa Unity Coalition is dedicated to building political power within our diverse and underrepresented communities at every level of government.

Mr. Simonson currently holds an at large seat on the Des Moines City Council. He has served on the City of Des Moines Planning and Zoning Commission and the Parks and Recreation Board. He has also served on the boards of One Iowa and Trees Forever. His community involvement includes groups such as Starts Right Here, Meals From the Heartland and the Robert D. Ray Asian Garden. He is a successful small business owner who has created jobs right here in Des Moines.

We believe Mike Simonson has shown a strong commitment to eliminating inequities for the diverse communities in Des Moines. He has been a strong advocate for eliminating food scarcity and creating affordable housing. Additionally, Mike has fought to provide positive solutions for homelessness and opposed punishing those who are homeless. We support his vision for a better Des Moines by ensuring everyone has full access to city resources and services.
