The Iowa Unity Coalition is pleased to announce the endorsement of Lya Williams for Johnston School Board in the upcoming election to be held on November 2, 2021. The Iowa Unity Coalition is dedicated to building political power within our diverse and underrepresented communities at every level of government.

Lya Williams is a civil engineer and an active Parent Teacher Organization member at her son’s elementary school. She also serves on the district’s equity committee. She is dedicated to expanding opportunities in STEM and promoting equity in the district. The Coalition believes Ms. Williams will continue her work to promote equity and will be a voice on the board for underrepresented groups.
