Iowa Unity Coalition Endorses Aime Wichtendahl for Iowa House District 80

The Iowa Unity Coalition is pleased to announce our endorsement of Aime Wichtendahl for Iowa House District 80 in the upcoming Democratic primary election to be held on June 4, 2024. The Iowa Unity Coalition is dedicated to building political power within our diverse and underrepresented communities at every level of government.

Aime Wichtendahl has served on the Hiawatha City Council for the past 8 years. She is the first transgender woman elected to public office in Iowa. Aime has a B.A. in journalism and political science from Mount Mercy College. Ms. Wichtendahl has supported small business growth, expanded transportation infrastructure and expanding recreational opportunities. She is an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, especially those of transgender youth.

The Iowa Unity Coalition believes Ms. Wichtendahl’s voice is needed in the Iowa House, especially in light of the recent attacks on LGBTQ+ Iowans by conservative legislators. Aime will work to protect and support all Iowans and will fight to protect the rights of all of us.
