On Tuesday, April 11th, the Iowa Unity Coalition will host a special event, "How Mothers Became a Political Force." This event will include three immigrant mothers of recently elected Democratic legislators who will share their personal stories. Each mother will discuss her journey to the United States and the challenges she faced adjusting to her new home.
Our special guests include Hala Abumaizer-Scheetz (Syria), mother of Representative Sami Scheetz; Geetha Srinivas (India), mother of Representative Dr. Megan Srinivas; and Kineret Zabner (Israel/Venezuela), mother of Representative Adam Zabner.
Our moderator for this discussion will be Roxy Strike, with program facilitators Shaimaa Aly and Anika Yadav. Coalition members will have the opportunity to ask questions of our panelists during this program.
This event will be cohosted by the Indo American PAC IA.
Doors will open at 6:00 pm. Our panel discussion is scheduled from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
Appetizers & beverages will be served. The Filipino-American Society of Iowa (FAS) will cater this special event.
Jane Kuf will be our special guest performer.
The location of this event will be the Machinist Hall, 2000 Walker St., Des Moines.
