The Iowa Unity Coalition is pleased to announce the endorsement of Deidre DeJear for Iowa Governor in the upcoming primary election to be held on June 7, 2022. The Iowa Unity Coalition is dedicated to building political power within our diverse and underrepresented communities at every level of government. 

Deidre DeJear has spent many years as a community leader and small business owner in Iowa. Her experience as a girls basketball coach took her all over the state and allowed her to get to know people in urban, suburban and rural communities. She has helped over 1000 small businesses in the state and supported over 100 during the early days of the pandemic. The Coaltion believes she will be the best leader for all Iowans and can make Iowa a great place for everyone who lives here.

“Deidre is passionate about providing the best schools for our children and making healthcare as well as mental health care affordable and accessible, especially in Iowa’s rural areas where resources are sometimes hard to find,” said Mitch Henry, Chair of the Iowa Unity Coalition. 

“Deidre listens to people and cares about diverse communities. She understands the struggles we have and she is more than capable of being Iowa’s next Governor,” said Luisita Dona McBurney, Treasurer of the Iowa Unity Coalition.

“I am honored to endorse Deidre DeJear because, she like me, came to Iowa and fell in love with Iowa values and citizens. Deidre understands the importance of our children’s education. She knows education is a three legged stool where parents, teachers and students are able to focus on the wellbeing of all students.
